Ordering & Shipping
When do you ship orders?
We dispatch all orders every Monday. Place your order by Sunday midnight (AEST) to ship that Monday. Orders received after Sunday midnight will ship the following Monday. We do not ship on Queensland public holidays โ those orders will ship the next available Monday.
Which areas do you ship to?
We ship live fish to most Australian metro and regional areas. Some very remote locations or areas experiencing extreme temperatures may not be serviceable โ if you're unsure, please contact us before ordering. We do not ship internationally.
How are the fish packed for transit?
Fish are individually or group-bagged in high-quality polythene bags, filled with pure oxygen, and sealed. The bags are packed securely in an insulated polystyrene box to maintain temperature during transit.
Can I pick up my order in person?
Yes โ pick-up from the Sunshine Coast is actually our preferred option. It saves on shipping costs and is less stressful for the fish. Email us at [email protected] to arrange a time. Shipping is available for buyers in Queensland or New South Wales who are not based on or near the Sunshine Coast.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery time depends on your location. Most metropolitan areas receive next-day delivery. Regional areas typically receive fish within 1โ2 business days. All fish are packed to survive 48โ72 hours in transit.
Live Arrival & Fish Health
What is your live arrival guarantee?
In the rare event of a dead-on-arrival (DOA), contact us within 2 hours of delivery with a clear photo of the fish still in the sealed, unopened bag. We will assess and offer a replacement or store credit on a case-by-case basis. DOA claims cannot be accepted after 2 hours, or without photographic evidence in the unopened bag.
What should I do when my fish arrive?
Open your box immediately. Float the sealed bag in your aquarium for 15โ20 minutes to equalise temperature. Then slowly add small amounts of your tank water to the bag over 10 minutes. Gently release the fish โ do not pour the bag water into your tank. Dim the lights for the first hour to reduce stress.
How do I quarantine new fish?
We recommend quarantining all new fish in a separate tank for 2โ4 weeks before introducing them to an established tank. This protects your existing fish and gives the new arrivals time to settle in. Even from a reputable breeder, quarantine is good practice.
Fish Care
What do bristlenose plecos eat?
Bristlenose plecos are primarily herbivores. We feed ours a mix of sinking algae wafers, blanched vegetables (zucchini, cucumber, spinach, sweet potato), and occasional protein-based foods. Driftwood in the tank is beneficial for their digestive health.
What tank size do bristlenose plecos need?
Common and albino bristlenose are suitable for tanks from 60โ80L. Long fin varieties and L-numbers generally prefer larger setups (100L+). L-numbers like the L134 Leopard Frog Pleco and L333 King Tiger need well-oxygenated, slightly warmer water with caves or pipes to hide in.
What water parameters do your fish prefer?
We breed in soft-to-medium hardness water, pH 6.5โ7.5, temperature 24โ28ยฐC. Most plecos and corydoras are adaptable to a wide range of conditions. L-number plecos from the Xingu region (such as L007 Vampire Pleco) prefer warmer water (26โ30ยฐC) and higher oxygenation.
Will bristlenose plecos damage my plants?
Bristlenose plecos rarely damage plants. They do graze on algae and biofilm, which is helpful, and their grazing on plant surfaces is usually harmless. They may occasionally dig in substrate near plant roots. Softer-leaved plants like Amazon swords are generally fine with bristlenose.
Ordering & Availability
What sizes do you sell?
We sell fish at various sizes depending on the species and current stock. Size options are listed on each product page. We typically offer juvenile (2โ3cm), young adult (3โ5cm), and adult sizes where available.
Can I request a specific fish or special order?
We don't currently take special orders. Stock availability is shown on the website and updates regularly. If something is out of stock, keep an eye on the site or email us at [email protected] โ we can let you know when it's next available.
Do you sell wholesale or to fish stores?
We do consider wholesale enquiries from established aquarium stores on the Sunshine Coast and nearby regions. Please contact us at [email protected] with details about your store.
Can I order multiple species in the same shipment?
Yes, absolutely. You can order multiple products in one checkout and they'll all ship together on the same Monday dispatch. This also keeps shipping costs down.
